Vintage Whites In My Kitchen

I recently got on a kick to Shabby Chic things up around here.  I considered the guest bedroom fairly shabbiesque already. The master bedroom – maybe more traditional shabby – and the breakfast area would fit into the shabby country.  Can you tell I am making this up as I go???
As I went from room to room,  my dining room made it clear that ‘straight up’ shabby wasn’t welcome everywhere.  I decided to change my focus from Shabby Chicing things to Deformalizing things at Blue Creek Home.  Immediately the goal became much easier. The post “Don’t Force Shabby Chic” explains how I came to the decision to change plans.
The kitchen is so traditional:  A mix of stain and distressed, cream painted cabinets, Uba Tuba granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and a mess on the backsplash.  (I know I talked about redoing it a while back – but it will remain a mess until I decide).  The only place I saw an opportunity to really add a touch of shabby to the room was to add white accessories.  What fun I had shopping for whites!

This shelf above the stove is always a fun place to play.

I think everyone in blog land has an old scale

I fell in love with the shape of this vintage casserole dish

I found these white canisters at a local consignment store.
I paid $10.00 for all three and I love that they are all different.

  4. I love all your whites, Rhonda! Great buy on the canisters. I've been introducing whites into my house too and am hoping to really incorporate them better when we downsize. I hate to redo any rooms at this point while we are on the market, so I'm using them where I can for now.

  15. I decorate with similar things on top of my cupboards! Love the look! Unfortunately I am one blogger who doesn't have an old scale :( I had a pink one in my hands at an estate sale once and have never forgiven myself for putting it back down!
