Halloween Temptations!

If Halloween wreaks havoc with your healthy eating lifestyle,  raise your hand!!! Yep, that’s what I thought!!!

My hand is touching the ceiling right now.  I have the hardest time staying away from the Halloween treats that have been on the shelves since Labor Day!!!  (Do they really have to draw it out so long??)

Some of my favorites are:  Peeps – pumpkins and ghosts, Candy Corn – I especially love the ones with chocolate,  Tootsie Rolls, – this could take forever!  The only candy I really dislike is licorice.

And, then there are the sweet treats from the bakery:  the cupcakes are enough to drive me crazy!  In fact, temptation got the best of me and I bought a box of mixed cupcakes…at Sam’s Club!!! You know what that means – 2000 cupcakes!!!

Since I am so candy savvy,  I thought I would ace this “Halloween Candy Calorie Showdown” quiz that I took this morning. I only got 3 out of 5 correct.

If you want to see how well you know your candy, you can take the quiz here.

We are taking Mason (dressed as a little bitty cow!) to trick or treat in downtown Auburn where all of the stores will be participating.  His Tia Carolina told him she would buy herself lots of things in every store so he would get lots of candy --- Good try girl!!!

Eating candy poses a more serious problem than just weight gain for me.  I have type II diabetes and I am in a constant battle with sweets/sugar.  I truly believe I am addicted as much as one can be addicted to drugs or alcohol.  So, tonight will be a true test of my self discipline!!! WISH ME LUCK!!  I think I can…I think I can…I think I can…!!!

  1. I have actually heard that Tootsie Rolls have less calories and fat then the rest of the chocolate candies. I buy everything but the chocolate until Halloween day as the hubby gets into it!! I am on a fierce diet and have been really good about sweets and I am determined not to cheat...maybe on Thanksgiving!!

    Have a ball tonight!!

  3. It's funny cuz I don't have a sweet tooth at all, I make brownies and don't touch them, don't eat the ice cream in the freezer...but something about this time of year makes me need chocolate!

  5. Hi Rhoda!

Be sure to post pictures of that little cow for us. Does he get to have chocolate milk in his bottle? :)
    (Yes, I am teasing.)
I am sorry to hear that you have type II diabetes. Stay away from sugar! It is so bad for everyone.
I'm too far off the beaten path and don't get any trick or treaters here. :(
