I am making this announcement with shaking hands and a quivering voice!!!
I am going to start selling …somewhere!!!
Starting out with Etsy seems to be a safe bet. I have everything in place – business license, tax numbers, merchandise – all I need now is a kick in the rump to “just do it”!
I have had antique booths in the past and did quite well. My body is begging me not to go that route again. I schlepped furniture home, spruced it up, dragged it to the antique mall, and had to do it all over again when it sold. I just can’t beat my body up anymore. Life is too short, my golden years are upon me. I am somewhat broken already ( faux finishing for 12 years, sometimes 20 ft. and higher on scaffolding, is hard on the bod!)
So, doing the same thing on a much smaller scale is the perfect thing for me right now.
I am going to concentrate on a vintage, shabby, handmade, romantic, bejeweled theme to start. Who knows what direction I will head in the future.
I have lots of treasures that I have collected over the years and I have also gone junking several times just for my little shop. If I do not meet with success, I will just have a lot of lovely things. I have made a vow to only buy the things that I would use in my home.
This photo represents the “feel” that I want to achieve in Blue Creek Boutique. (Maybe the store name…not sure).
The rose is made from the fabric that I used for the drapes in the guest bedroom.
The lamps are not for sale, but these were bright colored brass candleholders, bad ugly. I did an old finish, bought lamp kits, and purchased sweet silk embroidered shades. I will do some things with this look.
This one has a dreamy feel. This really feels like a dream!!!
I have come to appreciate so many of you for your input and comments about BCH matters. Nothing would make me happier for you to jump in and give me your thoughts, tips, and love!
Rhonda
Congrats! Congrats! I know you will do well!
ReplyDeletePS I love the mannequin!
GO FOR IT!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the name too. Rolls off the tongue...
I leased out floor space in a gift boutique for a year or so. It gets to be expensive... especially if the traffic is slow and you have to compete with lots of other merchandise.
I now have a website. It is just as simple as blogging. I also think Etsy would be a great venue.
Good luck to you!
p.s. I love visiting your blog
Rhonda, you will do great! It's a wonderful idea--best wishes!
ReplyDeleteMommy's business is expanding! YEA!!! I know you can do it, you will be a great success! I can't wait to brainstorm fun ideas with you!

ReplyDeleteHey Darlin,
ReplyDeleteFirst, about your comment about the Christmas ornaments...I can't even remember where I got them..years and years ago..I am not going to sell them...just put them on my tree.
As to Etsy, you just do it...I am going there, as well...first, though I am doing a street vendor thingy for November..lots of painted glass, floorcloths, etc.
See you on Etsy!
Our creative mama would be so proud of her blue-eyed last baby! If the picture depicts your perfect taste (and the rose is lovely),then it is directly from her--but you surely know this...think of all the things her hands made...little French knots, tiny tight gathers, bullion roses by the dozens, and flower arrangements of leaves, sticks, weeds, and whatever might have been blooming~I love you very~The Fourth Sister
ReplyDeleteYou-Go-Girl! Sounds like you have a great plan in place! I will keep you in my prayers!
ReplyDelete~Blessings~
Donna
