The family took in a Braves game last weekend. I posted about it here, as part of Outdoor Wednesday.
We had lunch at "The Varsity" in Atlanta before the game. It is ALWAYS crowded, food is very good but not spectacular, you get flimsy paper plates, and we sat in school desks!!!
Here are a few interesting facts about the place. It opened in 1928 by Frank Gordy with $2000!!! Today, it sits on 2 acres and can accomodate 800 people. When the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets play at home, over 30,000 people eat there. WOW!
I took a few photo's while we were there to use for a fun "Tablescape Thursday". Don't forget to visit Susan.

The famous Varsity in Atlanta, GA
A lot of hungry folks waiting to order
Some really fast-talking ladies taking orders
Slaw dogs, onion rings, and a diet coke on my little desk - not a very pretty tablescape, is it???
I only ate one of those hot dogs, I swear!!! And no, I did not eat the onion ring touching the desk!!!Ooooh!
When we got up to leave, I told my husband to sit back down - the bell didn't ring!!
The lady in front of us cracked up!!!
Rhonda

Never had a slaw dog, us yanks don't have such things! lol. Gotta admit it... looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time you must have had. I havn't had a slaw dog, but I think it sounds cool and good. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI don't guess I've ever had a slaw dog either. But it sure looks good! There's a barbecue place here in town I like that serves slaw on your barbecue sandwich, so must be similar! I love food like this!
