Outdoor Wednesday With The "Braves"

Al, Caroline, and I went to the Atlanta Braves - LA Dodgers game on Saturday. It had been a while since we had been to a game. It was hot and humid,(Alex called it "human" when she was little!!! I still call it that!) but we had good seats in the shade.

The most exciting part of the day for me was the hour that we spent at Ballard's Backroom. I will tell ya more later. OMG! Great bargains.

I probably "people watched" more than I watched the game!!! There are some strange folks at ballgames!!! Is this where I am supposed to say, bless their hearts?!!!
A couple of balls landed within 10 feet of us, but who knew we were supposed to bring our catchers gloves? I was amazed at how many folks were wearing a baseball glove.

There was a man who had to cross us to get to the beer stand. He crossed us 6 times!!! The aisle seat next to me was empty. About the 4th time that I had to pretzel my legs to let him back to his seat, I bravely told him he should just take that aisle seat. He started to sit down!!! Whoops! I was kidding. I told him so, and he went on to his seat. Hey, I didn't want his beer breath talking to me for the last three innings! Al, however, did get beer breath, but was just glad the guy was a "happy" drunk!!!

Another thing that had my attention was the older gentlemen with his much younger girlfriend. Yeah, she was tall, thin, blond, perfect-way white teeth, dressed to the nines, hands weighted with jewels, tanning bed tan, I'm thinkin' implants, perfectly manicured fingers and toes, Louis Vuitton stuff everywhere. Whew! Now, I didn't stare openly, mind you. Caro and I took turns peeking over people. He had a little gut, a receding hairline, some real good crows feet, and nothing special clothes. Don't know where I'm headed with this. Just a fun observation. I bet ya'll have made one just like this one!!!

Okay, finally some Turner Field action!

Okay, not Turner Field yet. This skinny fox was crossing our street as we left for Atlanta!

The stadium from across Interstate 75, where we had to park!

The entrance to Turner Field felt a bit like Disneyland

Pre-game hose down

A shot of the crowd

National Anthem performed by a very talented trio whose name I can't recall!!
***Do you see how tiny the camera man looks?? That was one huge screen!

By the way - Braves-4/Dodgers-3!!!!!

  1. Oh Rhonda!
How fun is that? A real baseball game. I have gone to watch the Diamondbacks play a couple of times, but the thing about it is, their seats in the stadium are so close to each other it is very hard to sit and watch the game. I would rather watch it on TV. Looks like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing. Please stop by and say hi. I would love to have you visit. I have signed up to follow your blog, I would love to have you follow mine as well. Happy Outdoor Wednesday. Country Hugs, Sherry

  2. Wow, I haven't been to a ball game since we lived in Pittsburgh, and went to a Pirates game and I rooted for the Mets (being a Native New Yorker, what choice did I have?). Amazingly enough, I survived.

People watching -- now that's more my style. Maybe that older gentleman had taken his "daughter" to the ballgame. :-P

And poor fox! He's been on Atkins too long.

  4. I do the same thing...people watch! You cracked me up about the mismatched couple.

The beer and its effects are the one thing that I strongly dislike about going to ball games.

But, having said that, there is certainly something about that All American game.

    Hope your day is lovely.

  10. Okay, so I was born in Atlanta, but raised in Los Angeles, so this is an interesting game for me. Not a sports fan, but I always rooted for Atlanta when I was living in L.A., so I'm glad they won! Go team! lol

I do love people watching though and you cracked me up with your descriptions!
