Dreaming In Neutral

Am I the only one who hasn't jumped on the "all white/neutral" palette??? I adore the look, whether it is shabby chic, Swedish, Gustavian, all of it. Well, I'm not fond of minimalism anything, so count that one out! I thoroughly enjoy looking at all the breathtaking photographs of all white rooms, especially the ones with a French flair. I love their peaceful, romantic look. I think I would be happy if I could do it in my home. Somehow, I think that sleep would be deeper, cleaning would be a pleasure, and harmony would abound in them.(Hmmm, I wonder if I would look thinner???? Yeah, right!!)

However, it would involve way to many changes and I would have to part with too many things for it to happen here. So, I am brainstorming ways to go "partially white/neutral" just to update things a bit. A slipcover here, a neutral window covering there, maybe a sisal rug or two. Who knows...maybe I can achieve a terrific mix. And of course, I will be doing it on a budget. Stay tuned. I will have it all here, as it happens...and I hope it does. In the meantime, these rooms, by Betty Lou Phillips, have just the right combination. For now, I will be content to enjoy these rooms and dream.

  1. Rhonda how sweet of you to comment on my blog! I look forward to following your blog - I can hardly tell your home inspiration shots from the ones you included of your home. I put up my follower link. Actually, I see we have listed a lot of the same blogs, so hopefully I will continue to run into you in this blog circle. Oh, and I so agree that the white/ neutral thing is lovely but for me a complete impossibility. We have to hide smudges in this household. Best of luck with the new blog, keep posting!

  2. Oh yes, how I have dreamed of having a white... mostly white home! They are just so beautiful. Unfortunately I won't be able to have anything like that for a while. Cleaning peanut butter and baby cookies off of all that pretty stuff would not be much fun for me. I have a white wooden bedroom floor and my bedskirt is very light as well. My husband with his work boots has taught me that that wasn't a good idea. We're just too messy! I truely hope it goes well for you! Good luck with the redecorating.

  3. Hi, I found you from your comment on momof3barbarians from a link that started at Nesters. Glad I found your blog. I'm still chuckling about the 'looking thinner' part. Oh, if only that worked. I am STRUGGLING with buying a slipcovered white couch for my family room. I too love white and neutral things in my home, but have some colour too. I posted about a slipcovered ottoman I did, and wonder if I would be crazy with the white family room couch. On one hand it would be easy to wash, on the other I have 2 boys, 10 & 12, their friends, hubby and a HUGE extended family. Looking forward to checking out more of your blog. Stop by my humble blog anytime!
