New Look For Old Lamps

I am forever changing the decor in every room in my house. Lately, something about the master bedroom has been bothering me.  Well, it's nice enough, but I've never really pulled it together like I knew I could.
I stood and looked over the room trying to decide exactly what needed to be done. The bed is fine, the dresser...fine, sofa...fine, highboy...fine...bench...fine, curtains...fine, night stands..fine.  So, after going over all of these in my head, I was actually wondering what else was missing. LAMPS - that's it.  I love lamps and the ones I'm using are nice but I've had them forever!
I made it a point to look for lamps when I was out and about junking and fleaing. I saw so many huge ceramic lamps with the shiny brass bases and plain old shades. It's a real shame that I didn't see a vision with those, but nope...no can do!!!
Sadly, I realized that my lamps would have to be purchased at a 'real' store for a high $$$$ price.
I had one more shop to check before I headed to the mall.  Low and Behold - there they were, just waiting on me. I guess no one else saw their beauty as they were pretty gaudy sitting up real high on a shelf. I stood on tiptoes to get one and whoah! it was so heavy that I almost didn't get it stopped before it went on down.  The price was $24.99 - not too bad. If I had to pay per pound, they would be much more!  I got a store employ to get the other one down and we headed to the check out.  Barely noticeable was an area that had been chipped but someone had cleverly painted the area with matching gold paint. "Oh my, look at that, this one is broken!" I declared.  The sweet girl waiting on me said, "how about $19.00 for this one?"  YeS!  So, out I went with my gaudy, soon to be beautiful, lamps for $44.00.  Not too bad.

Here is one in all of it's black and gold glory

I love the shape

And, I love the base

But, lets make her even better!
I used several products to create her new finish
and of course it included Annie Sloan Paint!

 They truly look like concrete
and I LOVE them now.

Thanks for coming over today.
