Vintage Tiaras

I have been away for a few days visiting family in North Alabama.  Sisters # 5 and # 3 went with me to an estate sale on Saturday.  There were four in that general area and we had every intention of stopping by all of them. We spent all of our time and energy at the first house.  There were so many pretty old linens there. That is all we bought...lots and lots of linens.   I am still washing and pressing my new inventory of old linens so I am not quite ready to share yet.
On the way back home, I stopped at a thrift store where sister #5 has become pals with the manager.  He is so much fun to work with.  If he isn't busy, he will take me around and show me things that he thinks I might be interested in - love that!

So here is what I bought from him.  He told me that a lady had come in with all of these vintage tiaras. He didn't get the story about them or why she had so many, some duplicates.  Maybe she was a judge in a beauty pageant or maybe she was a little beauty queen in her childhood.

This are just a few of this tiara collection.  There are over twenty in all.  At first I was going to purchase three and when I turned around and saw all of that bling on the counter, I couldn't leave them behind.  I bought every single one - even a pink broken one.  They were just too sweet to pass up.
I will be listing them at my Etsy shop soon.

My adorable model is one of Caroline's dolls.  It was the last doll she got before she thought she was too grown up to be getting dolls from Santa.  I miss those doll days!

  1. Rhonda,
You are not alone...I miss those doll days too:( What a great collection you found...I'm thinking that she was a child beauty queen...they are all very pretty and I'm sure that they will go fast. I'm so ready for some AUBURN football...we are passing up the first two home games because of the 11:30am start...just way to hot in Sept. for that. Our first game will be on Sept 24...that's if it's not a 11:00am game...would love to tailgate with y'all...just let me know. I booked our hotels last week for that game...Florida...Ole Miss and Alabama...might do homecoming.

    Blessings,
    Linda

  2. Hi Rhonda - I am so glad to see your lovely blog in full swing again! And the tiaras are wonderful! Oh my goodness ... I know you'll do well with them in your etsy shop. How fun. I hope you stop by Cottage and Creek and see the table I just finished with my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint from your giveaway. Thank you again! It was a joy to work with and I love the way the table came out. I will be purchasing more paint from Robyn soon. And like you, I very much miss the "doll days" but look forward to spoiling a granddaughter some day. Here's hoping!

  7. My motto: A woman wears many hats in a lifetime, why shouldn't one of them be a tiara? Love the collection.

  8. Rhonda,

I remember a neighbor I had as a child who gave me a few of her tiaras. I cherished them and pretended I was a princess that entire year ... okay who am I kidding, I'm wearing it as I type! LOL!
You currently have two listed on etsy. I am thinking of treating some little princesses I know to them. Will you be listing any others?

    Deborah

  12. Rhonda, LOVE those tiaras! I wonder if we were at the same Estate sale! The one I went to was in a stucco tudor on Meighan Blvd. Would that not have been a hoot if we had been there at the same time???

You did good too! Can't wait to see the linens!

  13. This is simply lovely. During Miss America I told my husband I wanted to wear tiar, and he dug out a birthday one we had around for our daughter. It was just a plastic, and kind of funny, but still I wore it during the entire show. Check my family picture out wearing lovely tiara :)
