I spent some time this morning "googling" something appropriate for a Sunday morning post. I turn to google a LOT. Well, for this quick post, I don't need it. I am going to let God and my guilt be my "source" today. This one is just coming straight from my heart.
If I spent as much time studying my Bible as I do design magazines, I would be an expert. If I donated to charities, as much as I spend on "things" for the house, I could have housed several homeless people. If I had visited the shut-in as often as I visit my favorite blogs, I would have too many followers to count. If I was as interested in church attendance as I am in blog ratings, I would be there every Sunday and then some. If I fell to my knees to pray as often as I fall to my knees to paint the legs of a make-over piece, I would be in touch with Him more. Wow, I think I could go on for days!!! Am I embarrassed? Well, of course I am! Am I going to do anything about any of it??? I sure am going to try. If anyone reading this has improvements to make with your personal walk with God, then please join in. Let's do a re-make on our hearts and our daily habits. I bet we could all spend more time in His word and in prayer.
Today, I am starting a personal "interior design" project. It won't happen overnight, but most successful make-overs take time. I can't think of a better time to start.

Great post, Rhonda!
ReplyDeleteNow that was rather thought provoking. Hadn't really thought about how much time I spend on blogging as compared to contemplation of the Word. I shall have to take that into consideration :)
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Very thought provoking!!!

Great post. Thanks for making me think about something a little more meaningful than what I've been focusing on lately (myself!)
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking similar thoughts, but you said it much better than I could have! I'm with you, girlfriend.

Oh I love this post. I know exactly what you mean. I need to read my Bible more for sure. I should join you in this quest.
ReplyDeleteYou must have been at our church today! Here's more thought provoking things to ponder. Our pastor started a new series: Think Like Jesus - thinking always precedes action! We can be "doing all the right things (we think) but not loving God. He referenced Dallas Willard and some of his questions to ask yourself to see if you indeed are on the right track. He has a book called Renovation of the Heart that goes along with what you've mentioned above! Great post! Luanne
ReplyDeleteEven as a non-church-goer, your post made an impression with me. Thanks for the great points!
