We went to a local restaurant after church on Sunday. This place has an outdoor pen with peacocks. I knew, from their coloring, that one was a girl and one was a boy.
We hadn't been in a couple of months. Somebody's been busy!!

As usual, I had to visit the peacocks before we went inside. And guess what???? They are proud parents!!! I couldn't stop squealing when I saw them!! They are the color of the ground, so I spied them one at a time! It was so much fun. They are the sweetest little things I have ever seen!

Did you know that a baby peacock is called a peachick??
This is peachick #1
How cute is the little feather on his baby head?

Close-up of papa's beautiful feathers...no wonder the peahen succumbed to the wiles of such a handsome peacock!!!!

Before I got a picture of the mama peahen, this big thingy bird, ugly duckling of a goose, came up and I hauled!
I know...I have to say, "bless his heart" now.

I just had to share these next photos. I have been whining that I don't have any blooming flowers.
This was a surprise in the courtyard. Snapped it through the side lites from inside the house. It only lasted two days before it drooped and faded.

  4. How strange Rhonda. I was just at a nursery today and in their yard they had a Peacock just like that one on your OW. I heard some strange squawking noise, and low and behold, there he/she was sitting on the air conditioner.
    Beautiful.

  8. Hi Rhonda,
Love the peachicks. We used to have a pair of peacocks that lived next door. Every once in a while they would come over for a visit. Boy are they loud but beautiful. Thanks for sharing, loved your pics.

  13. Hi Rhonda, when I was a little girl I would visit my grandpa's farm in Georgia and he had a couple of peacocks strutting around the yard. They were so beautiful and I have loved them every since. I have never seen peachicks, so thanks for sharing these adorable photos of them.

  19. Hello Rhonda, I did not know those little cuties were called peachicks. What a fun discovery and how lucky you had your camera. I have learned the haed way to carry my camera everywhere. You did have a moment there with the very unattractive goose. I'm trying to be polite. Yikes! Your flowers are sweet and I know your heart just flipped. BIG smile.

    Hugs...Jeanne

  22. What a fun post! Don't you love the fact that because of blogging you almost always have your camera handy? Those peachicks are so cute! I didn't know that's what they were called either. Thanks for the fun post (and I would have run away from that goose too - those stinkers can take a plug out of you!) Kathy
