Weekend Flea Markets

This weekend was spent working on the laundry room! I needed breaks and I needed stuff to go on the new shelves, so guess what I did? Yep, I went antique mall/flea market shopping!! I know you guys understand the "rush" you get from walking down one aisle after the other, making sure that you haven't missed a cross roads with more booths chocked full of old treasures. It doesn't get any better!!

I found several old things for the l.r. (I'm tired of saying it and working on it!) but I will wait and show you those when I do the "reveal". I feel like I'm on HGTV. I will go ahead and share this one crazy idea I had.

I purchased what I believe is a napkin holder. You know the kind that has the bar that keeps them in place. It was brown wood and pretty nondescript. As the laundry room progressed, I decided that I needed a towel bar by the laundry tub. So this is what I came up with!!!

This lamp was a mess, but I saw promise. It was perfect for Al's desk. It has a plug in the front of it...how convenient is that? Anyway, I primed and did a paint finish on it, but decided to keep the lampshade as is. Al wants me to spray it black, but I am afraid it will not be bright enough.

I was over here earlier, but I don't see my comment...must have been a glitch...
I was just curious...but did you see what the napkin holder looked like hanging the other way? Just wondering!

  11. The lamp turned out great. If you wanted something differant for your lampshade, you could cover with fabric and use trim to hide the edges....that would give you several options without taking away the brightness of your light.
