Mirror Silhouettes for Bella and Harley

Everyone...This is Bella and Harley!!! I am making this formal introduction because they are an important part of today's post.

I wanted to do a project for Kimba's DIY Day @ "A Soft Place To Land". I didn't have a clue what it was going to be. I have so many ideas in my head, it's hard to settle on just one. I really wanted to do something with fabric. But, I didn't have all the supplies that I needed to pull off anything. Plus, it was pouring down rain and I certainly didn't want to swim 40 minutes to Hobby Lobby. Then, I remembered the fun mirror class that I taught when I worked at Faux Biz. I DID have supplies to pull this off.

I have been planning to do the traditional black and white silhouette paintings of our little chihuahuas, Bella and Harley. But, if I was going to post about this, I needed to step it up a notch.

I started this project with some trepidation, but all I had to lose was an old mirror and a little time. This is what I came up with.

Between downpours, I photographed the mirror silhouette of Bella and Harley in the courtyard, reflecting the creeping fig that has taken over the courtyard wall!

A can light in the ceiling reflecting like a spark of love!!!

Does anyone see a female body with a light bulb heart!! I think I've made an optical illusion/silhouette!!! Hey, do ya think there is a market for this!!! You know, like the art that you had to stare at forever to see the hidden picture. I finally learned how to do that!

Propped on the staircase trying to get a solid wall reflection.

I am pretty pleased with it. Who knows??? Maybe, just maybe, I can sell some of these puppies!!! Puppies...huh-huh- I crack myself up, sometimes!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I didn't do a great job on the frame makeover. I may do something different to it...and then again, I may not!

  12. Me again, just checking out your blog. I'm totally at a loss about what you actually did with this mirror but it is amazing. If you have a chance I would love if you could stop by and explain what I'm actually looking at!
