Y’all Up For A Summer Recipe Contest?

I don’t talk about food here often, but there is an awesome recipe contest going on this summer that I wanted to tell you about.   I know a lot of you guys cook a lot between all the junking, decorating, and crafting.  Even though I had much rather eat than cook, I do cook – occasionally!   However, I didn’t make the recipe that I am submitting to the Summer Recipe Contest. Since Alex lives at Blue Creek Basement, she is the chief cook and bottle washer. Alex whipped up this yummy summer time dip in no time last night and it was ready to nosh on today…and nosh we did!!!

Before I post the recipe let me tell you about the contest!!

Southern Caviar

2 cans seasoned black-eyed peas, drained

1 can white shoe peg corn, drained

1 can Rotel

1 large green bell pepper, chopped

4 green onions, chopped

3 ripe Roma tomatoes, chopped

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. parsley flakes

1/2 large bottle Italian dressing

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.  Refrigerate overnight.  Serve with Scoop chips or tortilla chips.

* There are lots of variations on this recipe *  This one is Alex’s version and it was delicious!

Check out the size of these green onions!

My impromptu placemat is an embroidered designer fabric sample
That was even easier than making Southern Caviar!

We served it with Tortilla chips, but scoop chips would be good too

Baby Mason even ate some of the peas and shoe peg corn

Please let me brag on G-Man for a moment.

We both have taken several pottery classes recently. This beautiful bowl is one of his creations.

We are having so much fun and the pottery is stacking up sky high here!

If we get your name at Christmas, you will get a piece of pottery!!!
