Before I start the party, I would appreciate if you guys would say a prayer for the families who have been affected by the storms. North Alabama has been slammed twice today. In fact, there is a rare “100 % chance of a tornado within 50 miles of you” if you are in the Northern part of our state. This is really scary. Thankfully, so far we have gotten some strong wind gusts, but nothing major. I think it is supposed to be worse here tonight.
There has been a lot of media coverage on Prince William’s and Kate’s Royal Wedding during the last week. I thought it would be fun to reminisce about our wedding for Treasure Hunt Thursday #4.

Not a Royal Affair, just a small, simple wedding
My wedding dress had been hanging under plastic since our wedding in 1974.
28 years later…
We had it professionally cleaned and boxed!!!
I have to admit, I think it is a little scary looking!
There is a clear plastic body under the top of the dress.
My dress wasn’t formal, but the lace is stunning –
and y’all know how I love fine lace.
Sister #4 made a simple band of flowers for my hair
Alex styled it on my pretty French bust
Close up of the flowers – they almost look like linen
Alex photographed my wedding rings in a
Royally adorable miniature chair fit for a Queen
That’s as close to a Royal Wedding as I can get!

Here are some amazing treasures from last weeks
Treasure Hunt Thursday
Christie @ Carters Cottage found these
beautiful French pieces on Craigslist.
Some people have all the luck!!!
Gypsea Nurse introduced us to Isamat.
She could have come from a real treasure hunt.
She has a lovely friend named Mithy
Betsy @ My Salvaged Treasures
shared lots of her beautiful treasures.
I could go shopping at her house!!!
This stunning armoire resides in
Courtney’s French Country Cottage
It would be right at home at the Royal Palace!
Okay, you crazy treasure hunters, it’s your turn to show off your treasures!!

What a fun post! My wedding dress is hanging in a guest room closet. It's yellowed with age. I should have had it preserved as you did. ;-)

Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteYour dress is so pretty...love all the lace...I like how yours is boxed with the window. I had mine preserved also, but I have never opened the box...I'm now thinking that it might be in another box inside. I have been thinking about getting it out with all the wedding plans goig on here, but since I was a size 3 when I got married, I doubt it will even go over one leg today:( Haley and I are planning on watching the royal wedding...are you and Alex watching it? Haley's dress is in and we are making a trip to B'ham on the 7th for a fitting...I just can't wait to see her in it. You guys stay down in your basement and stay safe...what I'm seeing on the t.v. looks really bad. Now you know I would not want anything bad in t-town...I have family there.
Blessings,
Linda
Hi, Your wedding dress is so pretty. The lace on it looks gorgeous. I have my dress,1972 my mom's 1944's dress and my grandmother's 1912 dress in a hope chest in my bedroom. I hope my girls will carry on the tradition. My mother's was the prettiest. 1940's are usually my favorite of the vintage wedding dresses.
ReplyDeleteIt might not have been a Royal Wedding, but you looked like a princess!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this party!
What a fun and wonderful post! You and hubby made a lovely couple!
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda~

I am sitting here listening to the storm reports and increasing fatality tolls. Very hard to believe. Glad to hear that you are safe and praying you continue to be well.
ReplyDeleteI've been having some computer difficulties so am not linking this week. Looking forward to a village wide rummage this weekend and at least 2 church sales.
I haven't been able to get you off my mind all morning. I'm glad to see you were safe and sound yesterday, but I know more tornados came through last night. Know that you are in my thoughts and will be looking for an update from you. Sending my heart to the folks of Alabama today.
ReplyDeleteRhonda, I could have sworn I left you a comment yesterday but I don't see it now. Your were a beautiful bride! I saw where the tornado's hit Tuscaloosa yesterday. I hope you and your family are safe.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry

I had my wedding dress "preserved" as well but.....sniff.....they didn't do it proper. All the lace went yellow. It's now in the dress up trunk.
ReplyDeleteI still have my memories :)
Rhonda this was so beautiful. Your sweet Alex did a wonderful job photographing your rings. Your dress is so lovely. I am still glad you are safe and I am still praying. We celebrate 27 years on May 3rd. Hugs and Much Love Anne
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda! What wonderful photos of your wedding! Wish they would have had this kind of preservation when I was married. Love how you have your flower headpiece displayed. Our little girl statues are twins! So glad you linked up for VIF, xoxo Debra
