I hardly ever go to yard sales. Our neighborhood doesn't allow them!! I am sure that there are a lot outside the subdivision, but I just don't usually get up and out to find them. However, I do love a good estate sale, and thank goodness, those are allowed!
I also enjoy the incredible half price sale that "The Flower Store", in Auburn Alabama has twice a year. I always look for the big sale banner around sale time and it was hanging up last Monday, as I passed by. Of course, I had to turn around and go back. The sale had just started that morning, so I had the pick of the place!!! Usually, I get a lot of things, but I shopped a little more carefully this time since I am not currently bringing home a paycheck!!!
Here are my two purchases. (It took me over an hour to make this decision!!)

I finally decided on this "Nest" votive sampler for $50.00. That makes each little votive cost $3.43. That is not bad for a Nest candle!!! And this way, I can choose my favorite scent and buy just one big one at the next sale. I am currently enjoying Periwinkle Hyacinth.

This odd looking thing is a lavender wand. I love lavender!!! It was 60% off, so it was just $14.00. You can roll it between your hands to wake up the scent. I think I am going to put in under my pillow when I make the bed every morning. Then I will have a sweet lavender aroma to sweeten my dreams!!!
"Southern Living" had an article about these romantic little wands in a spring issue - I'm thinking it was April.

This next find was more than a half price sale. Hobby Lobby had this lamp kit reduced to $5.75!
After beating it up a little, I stained the wooden base with Faux Effects Mahogany, water based stain. I love this stuff!
...............................................................................................................................................
A baby theme for my new lamp kit? I don't think so!

I like this, too.

No, wait! Maybe this one!

Oh my! I will probably just swap out the base on a daily basis.Just about anything works!

ReplyDeleteLove a great sale at Hobby Lobby. Love the dog.
ReplyDeleteNifty idea for lamp-making, Rhonda. I've never seen a wand like yours before. I'll try to find the article in the magazine. Thanks for the visit.

A lavender wand! I love the idea of putting one under your pillow. The scent is supposed to make you sleep better, I think. I like the doggie lamp the best, but I think I would swap it out on a daily basis too!
ReplyDeleteHow sad that your neighborhood doesn't allow yard sales! You got some great finds, though. I don't think I would have looked twice at that lamp base, but it does look really good the way you chose to display it!
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda,
