Design Daydreaming in French!

Okay! This is a silly design game that my two daughters and I used to play (and sometimes I played all by myself)!!! Oh, who am I kidding? I still play! It starts when you find out that you won the lottery. Now that money is no object you can design away with wild abandon!!

Pick a room, and start designing it from the floor up.

Sometimes, we actually grab pencil and paper and draw floor plans for our dream houses! It really is fun!

Today, I am designing a tiny french inspired guest bedroom.

Want to play?

...................................................................................................................................................

These shabby painted french doors would welcome guests into my room.

...............................................................................................................................................

Reclaimed dark walnut on the floor would be the perfect stage for the European furniture.

................................................................................................................................................

I would choose this reclaimed limed wood for the ceiling with no overhead light fixture.

...............................................................................................................................................

Don't you think one wall, stoned just like this, would be perfect?

..............................................................................................................................................

I love, love, love this daybed from "A Good Stuffing". I would have it upholstered in natural linen. The feather mattress looks so comfortable!

...............................................................................................................................................

I would dress the daybed in this delicious bedding from "Layla Grace".
...........................................................................................................................................

This 1920's velvet Fortuny pillow from "The Shops at Malleries" would join the other pillows on the daybed.

............................................................................................................................................

This weighty round Gustavian table would serve as a bedside table.

................................................................................................................................................

A pair of these adjustable wall lamps placed at each end of the daybed would be sufficient light for reading. I might choose different shades.

..............................................................................................................................................

I adore this sweet pink bergere chair from "Rules Antique Interiors"

.............................................................................................................................................

A few of these precious antique Swedish lace pillows would be at home tossed on the bergere.

............................................................................................................................................

This gorgeous french trumeau will lean against the wall...I like the blue venetian plaster, but I think I would prefer a chalky, slightly grayed, white for the walls.

............................................................................................................................................

This is all the window covering I would need, as I love natural light flooding in.

...........................................................................................................................................

You can't have to many old leather books, so of course I will add a few to my room.(image from picturenation)

...............................................................................................................................................

Finally, I would always keep fresh cut flowers on the table.

.................................................................................................................................................

I don't know about you, but I had great fun spending that money!!! Now, it's your turn!

Rhonda

  9. Dear Rhonda,
First......"thank you" for all the prayers offered up for my daughter Amy...she needed and felt everyone of them.
My daughter and I have played this game ever since she was first diagnosed with cancer at 10 1/2...it is a blast and I will have to do this and then link it to you...it's fun but not quite as easy as it looks.

  10. Rhonda,
I meant to tell you that Amy has a black Mr. Harley named Romeo. He is all black except for the white outline of a heart on his chest.....amy also has a great dane named gracie girl.....the 2 of them play tug of war....gracie stands up and romeo is hanging in the air....romeo may be little but he thinks he is a great dane

  11. What fun!!! I could just sleep in the pink chair, delicious!!! (My dad and I used to play this game with a different twist, lol) We would describe what kind of house we would buy (or find one in the real estate guide) and then we would tell of the elaborate cars we would buy. Too fun!!! Loved this post!!!
